The Azerbaijan House Culture and Friendship Centre in London has been established in 2006 by the initiative of individual Azerbaijani intellectuals, young professionals and students living in UK. The organization is strictly non political and non profit making, aiming to serve as a community centre, promoting cultural activities and friendship between Azerbaijanis and the host community.
The building of the Azerbaijan House was opened in 14th November, 2008 in the presence of the Speaker of London Borough of Hackney Councillor Ian Rathbone, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan in UK His Excellency Mr Fəxrəddin Qurbanov, member of the British Parliament Lord Fraser of Carmyllie.
Number of events, including lectures and talks, seminars, meetings, conferences, exhibitions, films, concerts and readings, presentations was organized by the Azerbaijan House and the centre welcomes and encourages collaboration with other institutions and groups dedicated to Azerbaijani culture.

Azerbaijani music was developing through the centuries. The traces of ancient music of Azerbaijan were found in a number of monuments, excavated in time of archeological digs, as well as in rock carvings of Gobustan (18-3 millennium B.C) and Gemigaya (3-1 millennium B.C). Kitabi Dede Gorgud (8th century), creative works of Nizami, Fizuli provide full coverage of medieval music art, music genres and music instruments. |

| The library at the Azerbaijan House is one of the most important services provided by this centre. The library provides variety of books, booklets and magazines about history, culture, politics, and economy of Azerbaijan. Newspapers, CDs and other sources of information in different languages are also available. Members of the Azerbaijan House are eligible to borrow books or other materials in Azerbaijani, English, Russian and Turkish or other languages.
The library is in the basement of the building and there is an access to internet for the members. There are facilities to watch movies, documentaries and etc. and to organize meetings, discussions and different presentations.
